Time and Money Saving Tips

Great Tips:

Send eCards from Blue Mountain!
This is a great link for sending holiday cards to people you communicate mainly online with – if it’s easier to locate an e-mail address then a mailing address.  I always have fun picking out online cards.

Freeze juice boxes.  Put frozen juice box in your child’s lunch box.  Not only will the juice still be cold at lunchtime, it will keep other food cold.

Always prepare sippy cups before bed so you can open the fridge and go in the mornings!

Always pack lunches at night so all you have to do is load the lunch box in the morning.

Make the kids pick out clothes as part of bedtime routine.  Saves a headache (and a little yelling) in the mornings!

My kids love applesauce.  I never buy anything but the All Natural Applesauce and then add honey and cinnimon to it.

Locally grown honey is supposed to help with your allergies.  For lunch boxes I “make” applesauce and use a rubbermaid container to pack it in.  This is much cheaper than the single serving containers.

When you cook bacon, cut the package up the middle.  The bacon fits better in the skillet (all of it cooks the same instead of the middle burning and the ends barely cooking).  It also gives you perfect sizes for the little ones to eat.  I have also found that doing this keeps us from eating as much bacon!

Be sure to put the kids toothbrushes in the dishwasher a couple times a week on a Hot Wash cycle.

Another tip I rediscovered tonight – my daughter, Clara, just turned 6.  To celebrate I will take a treat to her class.  An easy, no mess yummy idea is to bake brownies in muffin pans.  I set the oven according to recipe directions, but bake for about 1/2 the time (no longer than 15 – 20 minutes).  Remember, you can always bake longer, but no one wants to eat a brick!

Do you have a great tip you want to share?

My boys are always placing trash and candy wrappers in the van-on the floor! I discovered the other day that I can slide a plastic grocery bag on each armrest and put it in between their seats. They can both reach it and drop their trash into the bag! Yeah! Luckily I usually don’t have extra kids in the back-b/c it would block them from going to the back to get in their seats. I suppose it could be moved or emptied regularly-if you usually had kids in the very back of the van. Saves lots of time-picking up my trash all over my van:).

On the trash bag scenerio-I just use one bag and use each hole for each armrest. Sorry for the confusion.
